Church camp 2011

Was in church camp from 30th May to 2nd June at BROGA haha (: The last time I went Broga was with my school CF friends, but this time it was with my church YF. Say, I really enjoyed this camp, A LOT. The theme for my youth camp was 3G-Girls, God, Guys. It's mainly about boy-girl relationship with God in the center. And our speaker is....Pastor Jason Fong!! I'm mainly blogging about the sessions so if you don't want to be bored to death, it is advisable that you stop reading haha =D

The sessions were mainly about god, girls, guys and sex. As what Pastor Jason Fong said, we NEED to know and understand, as mentioned in John 8:32 "...you will know the truth and the truth will set you free..."

In this 3G camp, we propose a new concept: FRIENDING. Dating is replaced by friending because "friending" eliminates the pitfalls and dangers of dating. Cuz in dating, the peson might wear a mask or act to please you, not showing his/her true self. So instead of dating, it is better to go friending with a group of really close friends, and from that group of friends, pick the one that you wanna go courting with. Dating is upgraded to COURTING because "courting" restores the sanctity and beauty of dating.

What I find interesting also is the topic "to date or not to date". Everybody obviously heard many times and knew that the ideal answer is "no" ,but it stops right there. Well, pastor Jason Fong made it really convincing and the statements really brought us to our senses. Firstly, there are 4 questions that you need to ponder:

1. Will our "likes" or "dislikes" change when we are older? people will change. Ex: when you were young, you loved eating any type of ice-cream, but as you grow older, you only like a specific flavour.
2. Do we want to confirm our "booking" right now? -We are only in seremban ma, haven't even see the world outside. So how sure are you that you will not fall in love next time when you go out into the world? And if you do, how are you going to 交代 to your partner who is waiting for you?
3. Are we sure of our life plans for the future? -as in, where you gonna study next time. Money is a factor..where you go depends on how much money you have. Results can also be a factor. What results you get will also determine where you are going.
4. Can we just hold hands for the next n years? Let's say you are 17 now and you plan to get married at the age of 27, so will you be contented by just holding hands for the next 10 years?

In another session, we were taught how to go beyond friendship for future purpose. One important question is "Has God planned a specific person(spouse) for me?" Most Christians think that there is a specific person God had planned in life, but Pastor Jason Fong said he personally thinks that there is NO specific person that God had prepared. It's just like a blue print model. A blue print is something like a plan a contractor used to design a building. So let's say there are 4 persons A, B, C and D in this world. From birth, God planned for A to marry B, C to marry D. A and B will have two kids E and F. C and D-3 kids: G, H, I. And then God planned for I to marry F and E to marry H. What happens then if ONE person made a mistake and married the wrong person? What if A decided to marry C? Then there will be no E, F, G, H and I. See, if only ONE person made a mistake, the whole plan will be disrupted. So it's up to us to find the right choice. God gave us the right to choose. If not, he might as well made us robots. Well this is only what the pastor personally thinks la.

We must also consider compatibility in the following aspects in choosing mr/miss right:

• Faith(2 Corinthians 6:14-15)
• Life goals
• Intellectual
• Finance
• Race/culture
• Physique

Well Pastor Jason Fong gave us lots of other notes but I'm not gonna type it ALL out. == Like what my youth teacher said, I'm going to file up the notes and keep it by my side always, cuz the notes act as a guide from being a teenager all the way to adulthood. I'm really really glad that I went for this camp. At least I learnt to think more maturely. (:

And guess what, 2 instructors(2 jie jie who is studying lower 6) who works part time in Broga accepted Christ. =) The angels in heaven rejoiced when someone is saved~ (Luke 15: 10)
